Objective – To drive the TUI brand message “Discover your smile” as an integral part of the interior design delivery.
My role – To champion budget allocation for “artwork” installations that would ensure the ship was memorable and had talk-ability which would ultimately market the ship further.
Solution – A focus on story-telling from a design and service perspective and the addition of surprising, but memorable features, including:
- Yellow grand piano – Live Room
- Three colourful life-sized alpaca models – chosen for their size, impact and endearing “smily” faces – located at embarkation and around the ship
- Brightly coloured beach huts – Snack Shack
- LED colour changing floating balls – located in The Glass House pool (night)
Outcome – the alpacas specifically have been a huge hit with customers and are quite possibly the most photographed feature of the ship as a whole, but all these aspects are memorable and help differentiate the Marella Discovery product.
